Filming Blog: Rainy Day

In todays blog I'll be talking about our filming process at the beach. Our music video is to the song Surf Crazy from Teen Beach Movie and our location was at hollywood beach. Unluckily for us today's forecast was rainy and cloudy. We didn't really know what to do in this situation. Even though we had a backup plan, which was the pool, it just wasn't gonna work out. First of all none of us own a pool and the persons we were suppose to use wasn't avalible for today. So in the end we jsut decided to go with it. One of the good things about today was, the actors. The actors in our video were our friends eli and agustin. Their both also in Aice Media Studies but in different periods then us. We picked them becuase they know how to work the cameras and already have experiences with filming.
Before we got to the beach we all carpooled and still went even knowing it was gonna rain. When we got there it wasnt raining at first, which was good, because it gave us some time to get a couple good shots in before everything went chaotic. We went along with the storyboard and we did the first few shots. One thing we had to change though was, Anyiah couldn't go in the water because of her ankle. So we had to chnage a couple of the shots around. When it started raning the first thing we did was put the equiptment underneath and onto a dry area to keep it safe and protected. So we then tried to figure out what we were doing to do next.
We ended up putting an umbrella over the camera and towels around the sides while our friends were filming us. Were assuming that this didn't make the best shots but we did what we had to do to get footage. Also since our class didn't have any tripods we always had to hold the camera which may have resulted in some shaky shots. After this the rain kinda calmed down so =it was easier to film. Our clothing got soaked but in my opinon i believe that just puts more character and personality into our music video. But today was a really fun day of unexpected turns, filming, and just a fun day with our friends.

storyboard

so this is our storyboard. This took a while because we had changed the whole song so it came out better in the production point of view.
 1. costumes
We are gonna have bathing suits on. Also shorts and all in a variety of colors of bathing suits.
2. Lighting
For the music video, it has very bright lighting. So its gonna be like sun lighting that brightens up the whole view. It has to be controlled because the sun can change lighting during the day.
 3. Acting
We have to be happy and some scenes and dancing in others. So the song has the same moods. We have to act very happy in one scene and then when the songs change beat go to dancing.
 4. Makeup
For makeup, we don't know if there will be any. None of us really wear makeup on a daily basis so it would be a change for the music video. But there doesn't seem to be a lot of makeup in the video on the girls so if we did it would be neutral.
  5.props
Props in the music video theres beach balls and surfboards so we will try to do the same. Of course, we would have to match up the colors in both videos.
 6. Scenery
for scenery, we are gonna be at the beach with the water in the background. we might film by a lifeguard tower if they let us. otherwise, we are just gonna find a clear spot on the beach

 Angles-
pan, medium shot, wide shot, tilt, high angle, low angle, and zoom in and out.

Editing-
Cut shots from one activity to another. Than from playing in the sand to dancing by the shore.

sound-
We might be adding some wave and bird sounds in the background in the starting in the pan from one side of the beach to the other.

Planning Blog

Today we decided to change our song. Luckily for us the songs are both in the same genre. Our old song as you know was "Say my Name" by Destiny's Child which is in the genre pop. Our new song is from the musical "Teen Beach Movie," and the songs called Surf Crazy. We decided to use this song instead because the other one was to complicated for location. For the location where were filming our new music video is the beach. This is good for us because the original song in the musical is filmed at the beach. So therefore that's where were filming now. Our plan B if it rains or something is we can film at someones pool since its very similar to the beach. It would also still make sense with our song. For the health and safety aspect of this music video we don't really have that many concerns. Since were filming at the beach the only concerns would be making sure we apply sunblock,(protecting our skin,) and staying hydrated. We'll bring water, snacks, and sunblock. Also a couple towels to make sure we have somewhere to place all our stuff.
We'll be needing a couple props for this music video. Those props include towels, surfboards but were using boogie boards, and beach balls. We'll be using these props because they remind us of the beach and these props are also used in the original song in the musical. The costumes were going to be wearing are one piece bathing suits (or tank tops) and shorts to keep everything school dress-code appropriate.Stephanie will be wearing a white and red one piece and jean shorts. Anyiah will be wearing a tank top and shorts. I am going to buy or see if I can borrow someones one piece bathing suit and jean shorts.

Intro to New Project Music Video***EDITED***

We just finished our commercial project and now its time to start our music video. The last project was fun but this one I feel is gonna be better because we get to show our creativity and our personalities. I have the same group, Stephanie and Aniyah, which is great because were already friends and work well together. For our project we're doing the song "Surf Crazy" from the movie Teen Beach Movie. We chose this song because it works better and is so much more simple then our past song then we chose. We will have some friends film and possibly be in the music video as well. The genre of our music video is pop.
       1. First thing we have to focus on is costumes. In the original music video all the actors are wearing bathing suits. In the musical the actors are all dancing and singing at the same time at the beach. They are also playing with the props and using all the surfboards.
 2. Next thing we are focusing on is lighting. The lighting is going to be the natural sun. The natural sun is the best lighting because that's what it is in the movie.
3. Next is acting. Acting is very important and we have to be having a lot of fun. In all the scenes we have to be happy and confident. We also have to be looking like we're having the time our lives.
4. Makeup is next. Disregarding the music video none of us in the group wear makeup in the real life. For the music video we will do natural makeup because that's what it appears like their wearing.
5. Next is Props. In the movie the props are towels, surfboards(but were using boogie boards) and beach balls. We'll be using these props because they remind us of the beach and thats the theme of this music video. The props can also be found in the original music video.
6. Last is location. The location will be at the beach preferably partly near the ocean.

Editing Blog

November 5, 2019 was the first day we started filming. We had a few delays with our SD card and with our computer that day. The first bump in the road was we could not find our SD card. We tried looking for it in the bin, but it was not there. We told our teacher and we searched through all the cameras for the SD card. Coincidentally, the last camera we checked had our SD card. Aniyah, Stephanie, and I were relived to find our SD card and we were ready to start working. We plugged in our flash drive withe the SD card in it and we were ready to transfer our footage to the computer, but our footage was not there. We were very confused, because we were so sure that the SD card we had was our SD card. Aniyah went to find or paper that contained the info stating which camera, tripod, and SD card we had.
So, we found out the SD card we had was not ours and our actual SD card was in the bin the whole time. We lost some time in the beginning of class because of the delays, but we were able to push through it. After importing our footage to Pinnacle Studios, we began working. We reviewed all our takes and picked the shots we wanted to use for the commercial. One fact about our commercial is that it is very funny. Our acting was not the best, but we definitely completed the commercial with great effort and angles. My group mates and I did a good job filming and getting all the angles we needed to get. We did a good job cutting things out and putting things together. The process went by smoothly, except for the times where our computer kept glitching. Whenever we played a clip from our commercial, our computer would either refuse to play or it would glitch and skip over a few things.
The slowness and glitches in the computer was time consuming and kind of frustrating, but we were definitely still able to work through it. After we finished putting things together it turned out smoothly. We decided to add two more things to our project: a voice-over and background music. We do not exactly what are going to say in the voice-over yet. We did decide that instead of having our regular in the voice-over, we are going to change our voice with a voice-changing app. For the background music, it took some time to decide what song to use. We knew exactly what characteristics we wanted the song to be. We wanted a song that was energetic, but not corny. We had two options. Aniyah came up with the song "Physical" by Olivia Newton and Stephanie came up with another song. We are still deciding, but I believe we will come up with a solid decision. Thats all for today and thanks for reading!
