How Innovative Thinking And Teamwork Helps Solve Problems

Hi blog this is Lily coming from 4 days of quarantine. It feels like its been so much longer than that... I miss my group and school. Today would offically be the start of spring break. But as I told you in the previous blog my parents aren't allowing me to leave the house under any circumstances. Many other families are doing this aswell. My group and I were supposed to film for CCR and overall complete this project. There are so many crazy things happening and they are what's preventing us from filming. At first people, including my group and I, weren't too concerned. This is greatly affecting us. We are trying our best to complete and make this project the best we can under the circumstances. Its getting harder and harder to complete this final task. Overall we can't meet up in person but thanks to technology we can communicate other ways. We went to Facetime and started thinking of ways we can all equally complete the CCR. Everyone in our group wants to do equal parts of work, it's just the fair thing to do. No one should do more work than the other. Another thing we had to consider was possibly doing it apart. We didn't want that either. This CCR is different from anything we have done in the past. We've done blogs and powerpoints but this time we are doing a filming style CCR. We've decided to do it like a talk show. For example like Jimmy Fallon, Ellen DeGeneres, or Jimmy Kimmel. We would make it like any of these amazing hosts were asking us questions about our upcoming movie. There are a few downsides to this though. All of our houses don't have the same background. We are going to try our best to use neutral colors in our CCR. Beforehand we are going to back on Facetime and answer the questions all together making sure it is at least 4 mintues long. Then we will chose who wants to do what question. But there are four questions and only three of us. What we are doing to resolve that is whoever spends the least amount talking about there chosen question will do the fourth and final question. Finally after we filmed ourselves answering we will get back on Facetime and edit the video all together.

Why We Couldn't Meet Up.....

Hey Blog. Todays blog we're going to be talking about the apedemic and how its bringing our movie process to a stop. The apedemic going around is known as The Corona Virus. This virus is effecting many things in todays world. Doctors don't recommend being next to someone with the virusand possibly avoiding going into crowded places. The virus is causinng many stores and public places to shurtdown completly. This virus is bad for your health and businesses. But its also bad for the film world. Many television shows and movies aren't allowed to film. This isn't a good thing. Not only will these productions have major setbacks but these people are currently out of jobs. For example directors, producers, film crew, etc. This virus is making it very difficult to film, for my group and high scale companys around the world. My group and I were supposed to meet several times this weekend but our meetups had to postponed. My parents will not allow me to go out of the house. They are very protective of me and don't want to risk any chance of me getting the virus. The virus doesn't effect younger peoples immune system as much as people with weak immune systems, infants, and the elderly. So even if me or my group were to get it it wouldn't be fatal, just a bad cold. I'm trying to continue to work on the movie even though we aren't in school. I have many things to do like CCR and double checking everything in the movie. This "break" shouldn't be an excuse of why your movie isn't done.

The Re-editing Process

Hi blog! As you guys know it is now the time for re-shooting and re-editing. We are going to wrap the film up. In the last blog I took the time to go review all the films and split it up piece by piece. It was for sure the greatest idea our group has came up with together. While editing using smaller pieces was smoother. For our first few productions we basically merged them, took all the videos and put them together. This made the films very very choppy. This is probably one of our biggest mistakes while editing and it resulted in our films ending with a lot of mistakes. We should've thought about this before hand. But we improved it and learned from our mistakes, which is very important. When you really believe your film is amazing its hard to accept that you made mistakes. Mistakes are how you grow and learn so all was well in the end. The first thing we did was go shot by shot. We went through them all very thoroughly while reviewing. We didn't end up using any of our new shots but they were good to have just in case. We started off with an opening scene and establishing scene of the house. We ended up putting the title on establishing scene shot. We wanted to cut out the sound so you couldn't hear the loud background noise. We also cut of the unnecessary film at the beginning of the shot. We watched the scenes over and over making sure our editing was perfect and the right speed. We then ended up making the scene faster after reviewing it. Then we finally cut off the extra footage at the end of the scene. It was finally to our liking and we went to edit the next clip. For the most part we followed these steps for all the scenes. For certain scenes we added background noise and/or music. It ended up being most of the time we had to speed the scenes up to make our film fit in the 2 minute limit.

Re-filming blog

Hi, blog its Lily! the day has been so slow. But from Friday and to this week we got a lot of work done. We went down to the bare bone in our film. We got good feedback but it wasn't all we thought we could get. As you know a lot of people carry their own opinion Which makes it even harder to get solid feedback on our film. We would have liked to have over 30 people watch our film and get feedback from them but that would be hard to find people willing to sit down watch and review. So we decided that the next best thing was to review it ourselves. But we all had to get in the mindset that it wasn't our film and we couldn't be biased. So we had our friend ana sit by us and keep us from being biased just because it was our own film. In my opinion, I thought our film was really great and I loved filming and help edit it. In my mind, we ddint have to re-film anything and I guess this will be our blog about talking about how we don't need to re-film. We found that our shots and angles were clean and perfectly cut. They were all well filmed and had good lighting. The sound was even really good in the film and I was so proud that we could get such perfect conditions while filming. As I told you we all sat down and reviewed our own blog and took down notes after every angle and movement of shot. We sat around a computer and watched the film for basically an entire period. Then we put all of our ideas together and realized what we needed to fix. That leaves our observations of what our editing could have done to be better. We really are gonna be focused on the editing part in the next blogs so I hope you guys are ready to see these clean-cut transitions.

Peer Reviewing Day

Hi Blog it's Lily. Tuesday was the day we were suppose to peer review someones movie and have a group review ours. We got group number six which was a group of four people. When I first got into class I saw Stephanie still working on editing the movie, I was a little concerned. The movie was all edited but the titles we're not put in. We needed at least ten titles and so far we had zero. The process of editing them in was fairly quick so it didn't really effect anything in the end. Once we got it done we gave the flash drive to the person reviewing our movie. Finally it was time to start actually peer reviewing the other groups movie. Obviously the first thing we had to do was watch the movie. We watched it several times. The first time was just watching it not writing anything down. The second time was writing notes and filling out the peer review sheet. The first thing personally that I did was review and see what shots they had and what they didn't have and also write down the times they appeared. Also a very important factor of the movie is the plot. The plot of the movie was confusing at first to my group members but I understood it eventually. The movie was basically a character in the movie murdered someone and the movie is basically showing her life leading up to her murder. Their movie is my opinion pretty good but there was a few things that could be improved. My least favorite part/thing was the plot was very confusing and could have been a little more clear. My favorite part of the movie was their acting.
