Editing Blog: Editing the Beach Music Video
Today we will be talking about the editing process of the music video. As you know we filmed our music video Sunday at Hollywood Beach. With the many problems we faced while filming I was hoping that editing was the easier part of the project. To my expectations it was. But editing did have a couple problems per usual. First of all we were having difficulties with the original editing program we were suppose to use, Pinnacle. But last project we also didn't use that program we there wasn't much change because it was what we were use to. What we use to edit is iMovie. Its the easiest for us to edit on compared to Pinnacle. The scenes that we filmed the first day at the beach were not usable so admittedly we knew that we couldn't use that in our video. Unlike that footage the rest was great and clear. One of the first things we knew we had to do was edit the actual song into the video footage. If we didn't do this the music video would be just us singing and dancing to no song. We also had to edit the seagulls quacking. We also had to edit the sound of the waves crashing onto the shoreline. In the footage where we were dancing and doing the routine that we made up we had to do several things in editing. First was merging all the good clips together. We had several clips where we messed up or we weren't coordinated. Second is there were kids also at the beach, obviously cause its a public place, and they were in our shots. We also obviously had to merge all the clips together. As well as all the basic editing.

Filming Blog: Sunday at The Beach
Sunday was our first uninterrupted filming day. As you know last blog I explained that our day was cut short due to the rain. The shots we got from that day were also not usable footage. It was just plain bad footage. Sunday wasn't all sunshine and rainbows either though, no pun intended haha. The first challenge that was brought to our attention even before Sunday was we didn't know when we were gonna meet up. I was out town in Key West when we could've had the chance to film but luckily I got back Friday. Anyiah was out of town the whole break. Regardless she wouldn't be able to film because to say the least the sand and ocean don't mix well with her cast. Stephanie was free the whole break but we obviously couldn't just have one person in the music video. So we finally decided that we could film with just Stephanie and I on Sunday. Sunday came around and even more issues popped up like our friends/extras couldn't come and we didn't have the proper props we had in mind to shoot the music video. We also only had an hour to film because our plans for filming were being cut short by our parents. Under the circumstances I believe our music video is the best it can be. The first thing we did when we got to the beach was set up the camera and started planning our first shot. We did pan shots, wide shots, close ups, and many more. The more difficult part of this day was creating a dance to do. Music videos usually have dances in it so we figured why not. I'm not the best dancer but it was fun dancing in the ocean while trying not to get tumbled over by the waves. We did multiple shots of the dance and once we were done with that it was onto the next shot. We got shots of seagulls and the beautiful ocean. The song choice was fun and upbeat so we decided to do some cartwheels to put a little movement into the video. The last shot was us falling into the ocean after doing the final dance. We packed up the stuff once we got all the shots we needed and left with memories and great footage of a nice day at the beach.

Filming Blog: Rainy Day
In todays blog I'll be talking about our filming process at the beach. Our music video is to the song Surf Crazy from Teen Beach Movie and our location was at hollywood beach. Unluckily for us today's forecast was rainy and cloudy. We didn't really know what to do in this situation. Even though we had a backup plan, which was the pool, it just wasn't gonna work out. First of all none of us own a pool and the persons we were suppose to use wasn't avalible for today. So in the end we jsut decided to go with it. One of the good things about today was, the actors. The actors in our video were our friends eli and agustin. Their both also in Aice Media Studies but in different periods then us. We picked them becuase they know how to work the cameras and already have experiences with filming.
Before we got to the beach we all carpooled and still went even knowing it was gonna rain. When we got there it wasnt raining at first, which was good, because it gave us some time to get a couple good shots in before everything went chaotic. We went along with the storyboard and we did the first few shots. One thing we had to change though was, Anyiah couldn't go in the water because of her ankle. So we had to chnage a couple of the shots around. When it started raning the first thing we did was put the equiptment underneath and onto a dry area to keep it safe and protected. So we then tried to figure out what we were doing to do next.
We ended up putting an umbrella over the camera and towels around the sides while our friends were filming us. Were assuming that this didn't make the best shots but we did what we had to do to get footage. Also since our class didn't have any tripods we always had to hold the camera which may have resulted in some shaky shots. After this the rain kinda calmed down so =it was easier to film. Our clothing got soaked but in my opinon i believe that just puts more character and personality into our music video. But today was a really fun day of unexpected turns, filming, and just a fun day with our friends.

storyboard
so this is our storyboard. This took a while because we had changed the whole song so it came out better in the production point of view.
1. costumes
We are gonna have bathing suits on. Also shorts and all in a variety of colors of bathing suits.
2. Lighting
For the music video, it has very bright lighting. So its gonna be like sun lighting that brightens up the whole view. It has to be controlled because the sun can change lighting during the day.
3. Acting
We have to be happy and some scenes and dancing in others. So the song has the same moods. We have to act very happy in one scene and then when the songs change beat go to dancing.
4. Makeup
For makeup, we don't know if there will be any. None of us really wear makeup on a daily basis so it would be a change for the music video. But there doesn't seem to be a lot of makeup in the video on the girls so if we did it would be neutral.
5.props
Props in the music video theres beach balls and surfboards so we will try to do the same. Of course, we would have to match up the colors in both videos.
6. Scenery
for scenery, we are gonna be at the beach with the water in the background. we might film by a lifeguard tower if they let us. otherwise, we are just gonna find a clear spot on the beach
Angles-
pan, medium shot, wide shot, tilt, high angle, low angle, and zoom in and out.
Editing-
Cut shots from one activity to another. Than from playing in the sand to dancing by the shore.
sound-
We might be adding some wave and bird sounds in the background in the starting in the pan from one side of the beach to the other.

Planning Blog
Today we decided to change our song. Luckily for us the songs are both in the same genre. Our old song as you know was "Say my Name" by Destiny's Child which is in the genre pop. Our new song is from the musical "Teen Beach Movie," and the songs called Surf Crazy. We decided to use this song instead because the other one was to complicated for location. For the location where were filming our new music video is the beach. This is good for us because the original song in the musical is filmed at the beach. So therefore that's where were filming now. Our plan B if it rains or something is we can film at someones pool since its very similar to the beach. It would also still make sense with our song. For the health and safety aspect of this music video we don't really have that many concerns. Since were filming at the beach the only concerns would be making sure we apply sunblock,(protecting our skin,) and staying hydrated. We'll bring water, snacks, and sunblock. Also a couple towels to make sure we have somewhere to place all our stuff.
We'll be needing a couple props for this music video. Those props include towels, surfboards but were using boogie boards, and beach balls. We'll be using these props because they remind us of the beach and these props are also used in the original song in the musical. The costumes were going to be wearing are one piece bathing suits (or tank tops) and shorts to keep everything school dress-code appropriate.Stephanie will be wearing a white and red one piece and jean shorts. Anyiah will be wearing a tank top and shorts. I am going to buy or see if I can borrow someones one piece bathing suit and jean shorts.

Intro to New Project Music Video***EDITED***
We just finished our commercial project and now its time to start our music video. The last project was fun but this one I feel is gonna be better because we get to show our creativity and our personalities. I have the same group, Stephanie and Aniyah, which is great because were already friends and work well together. For our project we're doing the song "Surf Crazy" from the movie Teen Beach Movie. We chose this song because it works better and is so much more simple then our past song then we chose. We will have some friends film and possibly be in the music video as well. The genre of our music video is pop.
1. First thing we have to focus on is costumes. In the original music video all the actors are wearing bathing suits. In the musical the actors are all dancing and singing at the same time at the beach. They are also playing with the props and using all the surfboards.
2. Next thing we are focusing on is lighting. The lighting is going to be the natural sun. The natural sun is the best lighting because that's what it is in the movie.
3. Next is acting. Acting is very important and we have to be having a lot of fun. In all the scenes we have to be happy and confident. We also have to be looking like we're having the time our lives.
3. Next is acting. Acting is very important and we have to be having a lot of fun. In all the scenes we have to be happy and confident. We also have to be looking like we're having the time our lives.
4. Makeup is next. Disregarding the music video none of us in the group wear makeup in the real life. For the music video we will do natural makeup because that's what it appears like their wearing.
5. Next is Props. In the movie the props are towels, surfboards(but were using boogie boards) and beach balls. We'll be using these props because they remind us of the beach and thats the theme of this music video. The props can also be found in the original music video.
6. Last is location. The location will be at the beach preferably partly near the ocean.

Editing Blog
November 5, 2019 was the first day we started filming. We had a few delays with our SD card and with our computer that day. The first bump in the road was we could not find our SD card. We tried looking for it in the bin, but it was not there. We told our teacher and we searched through all the cameras for the SD card. Coincidentally, the last camera we checked had our SD card. Aniyah, Stephanie, and I were relived to find our SD card and we were ready to start working. We plugged in our flash drive withe the SD card in it and we were ready to transfer our footage to the computer, but our footage was not there. We were very confused, because we were so sure that the SD card we had was our SD card. Aniyah went to find or paper that contained the info stating which camera, tripod, and SD card we had.
So, we found out the SD card we had was not ours and our actual SD card was in the bin the whole time. We lost some time in the beginning of class because of the delays, but we were able to push through it. After importing our footage to Pinnacle Studios, we began working. We reviewed all our takes and picked the shots we wanted to use for the commercial. One fact about our commercial is that it is very funny. Our acting was not the best, but we definitely completed the commercial with great effort and angles. My group mates and I did a good job filming and getting all the angles we needed to get. We did a good job cutting things out and putting things together. The process went by smoothly, except for the times where our computer kept glitching. Whenever we played a clip from our commercial, our computer would either refuse to play or it would glitch and skip over a few things.
The slowness and glitches in the computer was time consuming and kind of frustrating, but we were definitely still able to work through it. After we finished putting things together it turned out smoothly. We decided to add two more things to our project: a voice-over and background music. We do not exactly what are going to say in the voice-over yet. We did decide that instead of having our regular in the voice-over, we are going to change our voice with a voice-changing app. For the background music, it took some time to decide what song to use. We knew exactly what characteristics we wanted the song to be. We wanted a song that was energetic, but not corny. We had two options. Aniyah came up with the song "Physical" by Olivia Newton and Stephanie came up with another song. We are still deciding, but I believe we will come up with a solid decision. Thats all for today and thanks for reading!

Editing: the commercial (or not.....)
Today was the 2nd day of filming for our group. We got extra time to film because of all the difficulties that were presented last class, including, the camera dying and the tripod not having a piece. Before we got into class Anyiah, Stephanie, and I were talking about how we needed to get everything done and if we didn't we were gonna be more behind then we already were and how we don't have as much time as last time. The first thing we did when we got into to class was ask to get changed. Mr. Katz said we can sign the camera out and then we could go. Once we walked out of the classroom we immeditaly faced a problem. The locker rooms were locked. We had to go into the office and ask a security person to open it up for us. The guard said we werent suppose to be the locker room but let us in anyways. We walked onto field and saw that there werent as many people filming this time. We also realized that we lost all our footage and had to redo everything. Stephanie set up the camera and tripod and we were good to go.
So the first shot we did was simple and it was just us streching. It took a couple shots because we kept laughing but in the end we got it. Stephanie moved the angle then it was time for the next shot. This one we were doing was just me running to show i was warming up. Next shot was Anyiah running and doing the same shot and angle just different person. Stephanie moved the angle yet again and this time it was us starting the race. We both got into our starting positions and then we ran. What was comign up was the most important shot of the commercial, me passing out. We didn't want to use the same padding/mat as last time so I ran into the area where the football players practice takaling and i got one of the padded dummys to fall on. We set up the shot so that you couldn't see the dummy on the ground and we were ready to film.
This was the hardest shot to film for sure. It took several tries because you could see the mat in multiple. But once we got the perfect shot it was worth all the takes. The next scene was Anyiah continuing running and winning the race. After that she relizes that i feel to the ground and runs to get something out of her bag(its the gatorade.) The next shot is me smelling then drinking the gatorade and getting up energizied and ready to run. After this we only had a couple more shots left. The secong to last one was Anyiah and I starting the race and winning. The last shot was after our victory. It was us each taking a sip of gatorade and ending the commercial with a highfive. Once we got back into the classroom we signed out our camera and tripod and got changed shortly after. We needed to hurry up though cause even though we couldn't edit (because the site was down,) we still needed to complete our blogs. Some computers werent working and the working ones were taken so it took a while to find a computer but once i did i got to work. I didn't end up finishing it in class but I'm doing it now because luckly Mr.Katz allowed be to turn it in a little later. So thats all for today! Thank you for reading! Bye!

Filming Blog
Hey guys I'm back and today the blog is about filming. As you should know by now my group and I are doing a commerical based on Gatorade and track. Personally I enjoyed filming a lot compared to the other stuff. I've always been a fan of acting and i enjoy doing it. In 3rd-5th grade I participated in multiple shows at my school and I loved it. Filming was a also a bit of a challenge and came with several diffuculties but in the end was really fun to do with my friends and a great way to spend my media studies class.
The first thing we had to do once we got into class was make sure our storyboard blog was submitted and able to be viewed by cambridge and our teachers. I turned my blog in the day before so we were almost ready to start the filming. The next thing we did is we had to sign the sign in sheet for the camera and tripod. We also had to get a pass to make sure that the administration knew what we were doing on the track. The last step before finally starting the filming process is Aniyah and I had to get changed into our track/workout clothes. After we were ready to go to the track. Once we walked out we immediatly noticed that tons of other groups were filming there as well. We ended up finding a spot near the curve and started setting up the tripod and camera.
While we were setting up the camera we realized that the tripod was missing the piece to connect the camera to it, without that we couldn't set up the correct angles. Stephanie went up and switched and we were good to go(or so we thought.) Right when we set up the angle for the first shot the camera died. We went to switch it and then we were finally ready to film. We did a couple running shots and then it was time to film the main shot in the commerical, it was time for me to "pass out." This shot was fairly hard to film. I didn't wanna actually get injured so we used pads that were on the field to break the fall. We had to set the camera up perfectly so that it looked like i was falling on the actual ground and not on the cushion. It took a couple tries but we got the shot and then it was time to leave. We didn't finish filming because of all the difficulties but luckily we have another day to film so we will get it done in time to edit.

Storyboard
Hey guys we're back and today is October 22nd, 2019 and today my blog is going to be about what I learned and my storyboard. My class did not go the classroom we are usually in, today we went to the lecture hall. The first thing was about critical thinking questions that we are going to have to answer in an essay. I found the questions very interesting. The questions really require me to reflect and think on the past things that we have learned. But I know I can do it.
Th questions were very intriguing. The first question was about how our product uses conventions. There were two parts to this question. The the two parts was about how our commercial fits the typical standards and how it represents marketing groups. By taking a good look at my group's storyboard I am pretty sure our commercial can easily answer those questions. The second question is about how our product engages with the audience. There were also two parts to this question. The two parts were how it gets to the audience and where is it going to air. I have a pretty good idea for the answer to those questions. The last two questions were how our production skills have developed and how are we gong to integrate technology in the project.
My answer to those questions are not very clear yet. But, I have great faith that me and my group mates will be able to come up with an answer as a team. After the lecture, me and my group completed our storyboard. Although the pictures may not look very professional, I believe great work has been brought upon the assignment. I am very excited to complete the filming and editing process with me and group and very grateful we get to work on it together.

Editing Blog #3
Hi guys I was absent the day that we learned and were taught about editing. I was sick and left to go home early. I didn't know what to write the blog about since I wasn't there, therefore, its late. Today we just have a period to make up work, finish assignments, and basically just a chiller period then usual. Aniyah gave me her notes that she took Monday and now I'm reviewing and using that for this new blog. Today is an early release day so I have less time than usual to complete this blog, but I'm gonna make sure I get it done. I've never really been great with editing and technology so I'm disappointed that I missed this class but I'll catch up through talking to my group partners and through notes. I also am probably gonna watch some Youtube videos on the subjects just to make sure, especially since I prefer filming.
While looking at Aniyah's notes it look like they did a lot of stuff and that I missed some important things. They learned how to set up an actual camera and a tripod. The people I talked to said it was very interesting and surprising because there's more to filming then just setting up the camera and pressing go. After they learned how we were going to edit our commercial project. They used this site called "Pinnacle Studio." Aniyah's notes said its very similar to iMovie. I have used iMovie before for a couple things but I'm still not an expert on it. Another thing they were taught is how to insert an SD card into a computer and how to "dump in" all the footage. But from what I'm seeing in the notes the teacher was very descriptive and Anyiah takes really great notes.
After learning all that, they were taught how to save and export the raw footage. In the past when I've tried its been kinda difficult once I was editing, on whatever I was working on, to export the final version so I hope this makes it less difficult for me. Anyiah says that it looks like a simple process but I'm not so sure. The teacher also taught them how to "render' everything. To be honest I didn't even know what rendering is but I searched it up and now I'm less confused. She also taught them how to look back at the commercial to make sure everything is edited correctly and looks good overall. This seems pretty hard but hopefully once I get into it and actually start editing I'll understand it better. But of course if anything I can ask my lovely group members for some help and we can work together. They probably are more informed on this topic then I am. But I have a lot of faith in our group and I believe our project will be just as amazing as they are.

Hey guys we're back. Today is October 7th, 2019 and we are doing our research blog. In today's class we sent out our first introductory blog. I just typed mine today because I was kinda confused on what to write about and didn't know how to send it. I liked writing about my life but found that I didn't have that much to write about expect sports, which is fine by me. Today we had to decide what we want to do our commercial about but we don't know what we want to do it about. The project itself seems really interesting and I've never done anything like this before and I'm excited.
Today is the first day we officially started working on our project and honestly I was kinda confused at first but now I'm excited for future filming and editing. Stephanie and I researched commercials and viewed MANY. All of them are very similar in the ways that their trying to appeal to their audiences. Especially when it deals with the brand name. Brands put their names all over their products no matter what it is. We are very concerned on what our vibe should be for this project wether its sporty, cleaning products, or food. We don't want just some plain commercial, we want ours to stand out in a crowd. We plan on doing just so. We care about this project and we want to treat it like our baby.
We are leaning towards possibly doing something related to coffee, drinks, or clothing. Coffee would be good but it's very plain and simple. I feel like everyone does it. Drinks, like Gatorade or water brands are good and i think we're gonna do either of those. More than likely Gatorade. Clothing is an end choice and we're probably not gonna end up doing it but its a good idea if thats what your interested in. We want a very unqiue and different commercial. While we were researching it didn't really spark any ideas but once we talk about it hopefully we will come up with something epic. This project will for sure be my faviorte project of the year and we all look foward to participate in it.

Hi guys we're back... again and today we added a new member of our team!! Her name is Aniyah and she has great ideas which already inspired our commercial idea. Yesterday on facetime we all went over some ideas about the commercial and also watched some commercials for inspiration and for research. We decided to do our commercial on Gatorade!! We got the idea for our commercial by Aniyah and are super excited to see this come into action. Stephanie and I brainstormed and wrote down the script. Aniyah is doing most of the storyboard and we all worked together to come up with the props, costumes, schedule, location list, and our back-up plan. The plan is all of us our going to go out to the field(the track part) and start filming there. In the commercial Stephanie will be playing the coach. Aniyah and I will be playing the track stars. In the first scene Stephanie will be yelling at us to try to improve our time. Suddenly I will pass out from dehydration and heat and faint. The track pads will be underneath me so I don't get injured from the fall. The scene will then cut to Aniyah passing me a Gatorade(blue) and I will wake up hydrated and get a boost of energy. Then I start running and it cuts to me running an actual race and winning. As a congradulation gift they reward me with a bluer Gatorade.
PROPS:
Gatorade bottle(blue)
Whistle
towel

Ive had mine typed up for a while but i didn’t know
how to send it. I really enjoy typing about my life.
Its like sending a letter about my day to anyone
who cares to read it. We got the project last class
but i didn’t know it was going to be so exciting.
We worked on our project for the first time today.
I think its gonna be a lot of fun but I just want to
get a good grade. Stephanie and I looked at commercials
from all the topics and all of them have one thing in
common. The brands name is all over the
commercial whether its on trucks or banners
or shirts or walls. It everywhere to
promote themselves. Stephanie and i still havent
really decided on what topic. We are trying to
figure out what we want the vibe or feel of the
30 second commercial.
We are feeling more towards the the shoes and
coffee. Coffee would be nice but shoes would
consist of more shots and would be a lot more
eventful. Coffee commercials really have to be
different for them to be good. We want to make
a really interesting commercial and make the best
ones possible. We dont want it to be like just any
commercial. Research hasn’t sparked any really
good ideas but hopefully tonight when we facetime
we can think of something awesome. Well until
tomorrow see ya later alligator.
Hi I'm Lily, and my life is kinda crazy. I'm a freshman at Fort Lauderdale High School. I love to watch the show Vampire Diaries, make jewelry, play sports, and most importantly sleep.Younger me loved to sing, dance, and dress-up. All that changed when my parents signed me up for soccer camp. At first i thought soccer was the most boring sport on the planet but once i got into it i didn't stop. I've been playing soccer since i was 7 years old and don't plan on stopping anytime soon, Other than soccer i do enjoy playing other sports. In middle school, Beachside Montessori, I played volleyball and Flag Football. Volleyball really wasn't my sport but it was still fun and i tried my best to be a part of the team. On the otherhand, I loved flag football. I was the captain on my team for two years, 7th and 8th, and i loved having the authority to tell people where to stay or what to do. This year in highschool I'm participating in soccer and lacrosse. I'm trying out lacrosse this year because it sounds like fun even though It's a slightly physical sport, which honestly i don't have a problem with. In most of my sports I was known to be "thrown around" because I'm on the shorter side. Disregarding that I was still aggressive when i needed to be.
Now about school. Honestly my grades aren't the best but not because i don't try and put hard work into them. I'm very bad at tests and don't do well under time, usually. I'm a hardworker and when I put my mind to something I get it done. Biology is my favorite subject because I like the energy, the people, the work, and the teacher. The work is hard but not hard enough to the point where i can't complete it. Math is my worse subject. I've never been good at math, something about all the formulas and numbers just doesn't settle with my mind. General Paper is okay, I don't really love the essays or the prompts but its do-able. World History is my least favorite subject. The class is just plain boring. Spanish is good but hard to remember.
To be honest i don't know what these next 4 years hold for me but I'm excited and ready. My goals for this year are to get my math grade up, excel in soccer, and to be more social. I plan to become for extroverted and to join more clubs and get more volunteer hours. Through to the future though i have thought about it i haven't gotten a definte answer on what i want to do with the rest of my life. I bounce around a lot with my interest so im never just interested thing for too long. Well that all for today hope you liked learning about this crazy life i live lol.
